I’ve been wondering how every other blogger talks about the new form factor for the new iPhone’s design (larger screen, thinner etc), but no one bothers to talk about how this may affect the resolution, apps and developers.
The way I see it, there are three ways to go here:
- Apple adds a larger screen with larger resolution: Could be, but unlikely since the new resolution would add yet another resolution you need to design your apps for. Keep in mind developers already have to develop for Retina and non-retina displays (even iPad).
- Apple adds a larger screen, keeps retina’s 960×640 resolution: Could happen too, also unlikely since it will reduce pixel density voiding the whole purpose of the retina display.
- We won’t see a larger screen: A million apple fanboys will suddenly cry out in disappointment (including myself).
We’ll have to wait until Tuesday to see what Cupertino shows us.
